Aspirin was initially used to treat fever, headaches and body pains. The drug's antiplatelet action was discovered in the 1960s and now it remains the main drug to prevent Atherothrombotic events in patients at risk of getting heart attacks and strokes. In the March issue of  2016 of JAMA (Journal of American Medical Association) there is an interesting article that Aspirin may even prevent cancer. According to a long-term study, taking low-dose aspirin every day may lower the overall risk of cancer by 3 percent, mostly because of larger reductions that were seen in the risk for colon and gastrointestinal tumors.
