Normal cholesterol tests include those for HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides. Studies suggest that apolipoprotein B (apoB) markers are a better indicator for cardiovascular diseases. According to a study, patients who have elevated apoB levels will suffer nearly 3 million times more cardiovascular diseases events in the next 15 years than those who have normal apoB levels.
Also, several clinical trials have been shown that apoB is a better marker for monitoring patients on statin therapy for residual risk than LDL-C. Please share your views!
