I have a 61 yr old female patient who has been taking escitalopram 10mg for control of anxiety attacks with depression since last 10 yrs. She says that whenever she tries to stop her medication the panic returns. However symptoms of mild depression are still there. What could be the possible side effects of taking this drug, whether it can be replaced by another?
She also complains of an involuntary spasm of stomach, midway between a hiccough, a cough and feeling of missed heartbeat with a sound issuing from her mouth especially while lying on her right side. What could be the cause of that?
