In light of Pioglitazone ban revoke in 2013, a systematic review was published that investigated the safety and efficacy of Pioglitazone in Indian T2DM patients. The study concluded that pioglitazone treatment was not associated with bladder cancer in Indian population. The investigators related this effect to low dose, lower background, and smaller sample size in epidemiological studies. These results are consistent with results from the European Medicines Agency Assessment Report (EMA-AR).
