It is really unfortunate to see nowadays that practice of medicine in india is pharmaceutical company oriented rather than patient oriented. Doctors have forgotten all ethics and busy in minting money. One of my relative was admitted in a nursing home in my city cuttack for dka. Immediately she was put on Aztreonam and next day she was switched over to Imipenem, Tiecoplanin and Aztreonam and she was on Vasopressor in high dose in a peripheral line.
Unfortunately her condition did not improve even after all these mixtures of antibiotics and she was shifted by relatives to other hospital. My worry is that in india we are misusing antibiotics without any justification which is not at all acceptable according to norms.Some of the doctors prescribe medications which are unneccessary also costly to the poor patient. What is your opinion on it?
