The common ailment related reason for the removal of spleen is the blood disorder namely idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). This video presents a case of 32-year-old female with chronic ITP, falling platelet count, petechial haemorrhage and under steroid treatment. When Splenectomy was decided upon, the patient was vaccinated 2 weeks before the surgery. Layout for the operation was important for efficiently doing the procedure; the patient was tilted to 30 degrees up on the left by putting a sandbag under the left scapula with thighs strapped and right shoulder supported. The port positions were determined.
