The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) has established the staging criteria and management strategies for medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaws (MRONJ) , formerly termed bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaws (BRONJ). The AAOMS released position papers on MRONJ in 2007, 2009, and 2014. This article summarizes the recently released 2022 position paper on MRONJ by the AAOMS Committee on Oral, Head, and Neck Oncologic and Reconstructive Surgery (COHNORS) and three authors of the 2014 position paper.
