A case in second appeal comes before the CIC for directions to provide information of a patient (deceased) through his son. CIC pronounced its decisions in favour of appellant and discussed many relevant issues related to quality of healthcare services and avoidance of unethical practices by private hospitals especially corporate hospitals. Commission’s authority to implement RTI of appellant CIC observed that once the information sought by appellant is ‘information’ under s 2(f) of RTI Act, entire law will come to the rescue of the right of appellant and the Commission has statutory duty to enforce his right with all its powers available under RTI Act to secure the information legitimately sought by the appellant.
