Dubai Health Authority has recently launched its first smart pharmacy in a primary healthcare center for dispensing and prescribing medication. Till date, five such pharmacies have been inaugurated in Dubai, among which four are operated on a trial basis across various hospitals in Dubai. Results of trials conducted between 2017 and 2018 in clinical settings indicated that robotic pharmacies can deliver medications with zero medical error. As a first step towards incorporation of robots in dispensing of medicines, around 36 million items have been barcoded and integrated within the formulary smart application.
