Doctors holding MBBS and MD degrees will now be required to appear for a revalidation exam every three to five years. Sources close to the Health Minister indicate that this revalidation process, part of a series of health sector reforms, will be implemented by the Union Health Ministry starting next year. Initially, the plan will apply to CGHS and ESI doctors, and later extend to all practitioners. The government has sought the Indian Medical Association’s (IMA) feedback on the proposal.
