Lichen planus is a fairly common, itchy, non-infectious type of rash that usually occurs in adults. The precise cause of lichen planus is unknown, but the disease seems to be immunologically mediated. It is a psychocutaneous disorder.There is a lack of data for the psychiatric depression of this disorder in Indian patients. Hence, this article covers a study that has evaluated the depression among Lichen planus affected individuals.
Study design: The study was initiated in the dermatology outpatient department of a tertiary general hospital. All patients were diagnosed as having cutaneous and/or mucosal lichen planus by the consultant dermatologist after clinical evaluation and skin/mucosal biopsy with a confirmation of the same on histological report.
