Osteoporosis is one the most common disease, especially in the postmenopausal women. Numerous studies have indicated that the circulative antioxidant levels play a protecting role in bone loss. Serum uric acid (SUA), an antioxidant, has shown to reduce bone loss in a number of studies. However, the association between bone mineral density (BMD) and SUA is not yet clear.

The study reported in this article investigated whether SUA plays a protective role in bone loss in healthy postmenopausal Chinese women.
