People with diabetes and hypertension are considered highly prone to the risk of infection of swine flu. The Government of Maharashtra has decided to provide free vaccination for high-risk groups at state-run vaccination centers starting December 1st. With the winter at the doorstep, the threat of flu pandemic looms large over an entire country. Government health agencies, doctors and entire healthcare system needs to be aware and prepared for the risk.

Swine flu high-risk groups generally include children and pregnant women. But, it is also found that people with diabetes and hypertension also have similar risks of acquiring swine flu infection.
