Since 2000, malaria cases have decreased from 2 million to 88200 in 2013 and our country is projected to see a further decrease. India, the country highly affected by malaria is projected to see complete malaria eradication, which is also an aim of India's National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDP). Successful implementation of World Health Organisation's (WHO) recommendations such as artemisinin-based combination therapy, indoor residual spraying, long-lasting insecticidal nets and rapid diagnostic tests have brought down the malaria cases in the country, says chairman of NVBDP.
