In the Middle East, there is a high prevalence of Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Diseases ( ASCVDs ). Among other risk factors, plasma lipid disorders , in particular, contribute to the development of ASCVD. Unfortunately, there are no region-specific guidelines to dictate proper management of plasma lipids . In addition, guidelines developed elsewhere, are often not followed.

Thus, to address this problem, a multidisciplinary panel comprising of regional experts was convened.
