Dear Sir Kindly suggest how to manage dry cough in first trimester of pregnancy.The patient's complaint is only dry irritating cough both during the day and night for the last 3 weeks. No pain on swallowing, no history of breathlessness. She is on medicines prescribed by her Gynaec doctor:- Dydrogesterone  10mg two times along with Aspirin, folic acid and a PPI (Rabeprazole) tablets. She had a several similar episodes( 2 -3 times in a year) of dry cough even before her pregnancy. All hematologic tests are within normal limits except a marginally increased eosinophil count.

On Throat examination a pale posterior pharyngeal wall, and on auscultation of chest no abnormality. She had tried with Antiseptic gargle, and all herbal cough syrups, but were of no avail. Can Codeine containing cough syrups / Dextromethorphan / antihistamine Fexofenadine be tried? Please give your expert…
