A 35-year-old man came for psychological assessment due to his recurrent panic attacks. His first panic attack was in the supermarket. He felt his heart was beating very fast and he was extremely dizzy. He was convinced that he was going to faint and so he ran out of the supermarket, leaving behind his shopping. As soon as he got out, he felt better.
He began to worry and decided that he will not go to the supermarket. A couple of weeks later, while driving on the highway he started to feel anxious. He was scared that he might lose control of the car and cause a crash, hence he came off the highway at the next junction and started feeling better right away.
