Pregnant women who contract infections are at greater risk of maternal morbidity and mortality. Therefore, maternal immunization plays a crucial role in reducing and eradicating the debilitating but preventable diseases. This article focusses on the importance of maternal vaccination and recent guideline recommendations. Immunization during pregnancy has a great potential to protect the mother and the infant against vaccine-preventable diseases.
