Creating a wave of anxiety among students, MCI has declared that candidates who completed their class 12 examination through open and distance mode are barred from NEET. MCI said that “NIOS students would not be on a par with those from the regular mode and they would be ineligible for NEET.” This decision will affect thousands of open school students who appear for NEET every year. In this regard, the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) had appealed to the HRD ministry to intervene, stating that the decision will deprive thousands of students the opportunity to pursue medical education.

In the meeting held by the HRD minister, the center has reportedly decided to revert the MCI's order of barring open school students from NEET this year. However, the official notification has not yet been released. Source: Times of India What is your opinion about MCI’s decision?
