Objective : Previous studies have indicated an increased prevalence of overt and subclinical hypothyroidism in Type 2 diabetes patients. We have conducted this study to evaluate prevalence of thyroid dysfunction in south Indian type 2 diabetes individuals. Methods and Materials : Four hundred male and female type 2 diabetes patients aged between 25-75 years attending out-patient department of Karnataka institute of diabetology were randomly included in the study.

Two hundred matched relatives who accompanied diabetic subjects were recruited as controls.
