A parliamentary committee has said that MCI has failed in its duty and needs to be revamped. A body which was doing an excellent job for the last 50 years suddenly is being blamed for all the ills that ails the medical profession. I want to ask the parliamentarian who failed the MCI. Who started PVT medical colleges and who pressurized the officers to give recognition to these half baked colleges. Who deprived the funds to govt medical colleges.
There was a time when MCI was so strict that Govt medical colleges had run from pillar to post to get the college recognized. MCI had prescribed the standards but Govt interfered at every step. So much that even when MCI proposed a common entrance test the govt dithered and Judiciary also did not support this idea.
