A recent survey in a surgery clinic revealed that almost one-third participants did not know the meaning of terms like "benign", "lesion", "lymph node", or "metastasis" and so on. In a broader sense, this can have serious implications where patients may not pursue timely treatment. I would like to know, how do you approach this gap through your communication?
What are your parameters for assessing patient's understanding of his disease and such jargons? Do you explain them or simply prescribe medicines?
