Query- I am a practicing general surgeon practicing in a multispecialty hospital, not super speciality. A few months back I had performed a laparoscopic cholecystectomy, it was a difficult case during which a known complication of surgery i.e CBD injury/ transection occurred.I had completed the surgery, put the drain and closed with a further decision to refer the case to a higher super speciality centre for CBD injury repair.I had also mentioned the injury part in notes. Postoperatively also told the difficulty in the case and need for another surgery in a higher centre.
Next day patients attendants started making hoolah of the case and called 100 to 150 people in the hospital, however, the patient was shifted or referred to the higher centre after intervention by police.
