Disease-modifying treatments usually administered to multiple sclerosis (MS) patients may increase the risk of infections and alter vaccine efficacy. Hence, special regard for the vaccination of MS patients becomes imperative. Regional experts designated by the Middle East North Africa Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (MENACTRIMS) have developed preliminary practical recommendations for COVID-19 vaccine administration to multiple sclerosis (MS) patients based on thorough reviewing of previous vaccine studies, current COVID-19 vaccine studies, mechanism of action of each disease-modifying therapy (DMT), and expert opinion.
