According to findings recently published in the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine, approximately two in three physicians are multisite practitioners- that is, they have multiple hospital privileges and work in multisite group practices. Multisite practicing is prevalent in several parts of the globe. There may be such areas where multisite practicing is the only way to provide better primary care.

Mobile clinics, house calls, and telemedicine have been useful resources in extending the reach of clinicians to their patients in remote areas or whenever required. Although findings suggest that multisite practicing improves the area of clinicians to gain a stable patient base for the practice which in turn generates better revenue, it also helps to lower personal travel expense for the patients and better access to care from the patient point of view.
