The attempts of MCI to eliminate ghost faculty by Biometry will create a unique situation. Till now ghost faculty is brought from distant places. After the MCIs insistence on Biometry, Medical colleges have to depend more on local ghost faculty.That leads to less demand for NONLOCALS and more bargaining power for LOCAL GHOST faculty who reside within city limits and punch in after returning from morning walk and while going to the clinic in the evening.
This raises the need to question/revisit our concepts about Faculty requirements.I personally feel there is absolutely no need for the Professors to attend Medical college 6 days a week. I put forward the following formula for consideration by the experts in the Medical education. Professors should work 4 days a wk, Associates 5 days a week, Assistants and residents 6 days a wk.In addition to the above Professors should get 10-15 days…
