The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) recently exonerated a UP-based hospital and the doctor from allegations of medical negligence following a patient’s death, while modifying the compensation previously awarded by the State Consumer Commission. The Apex Consumer Court ruled that there was no deficiency in medical care and reduced the compensation from Rs. 12,92,035 with 9% interest to a lumpsum amount of Rs.
