The report analyses the reason - and concludes that public does not have trust in local maternity centres as there are no facilities for caesarian section and at the last minute travel long distances. Public hospitals are overburdened. and the private sector unaffordable.

Indian Medical association had opposed the application of CPA (consumer protection law) to the medical profession and even went to the court. But it was fait accompli and the medical profession is now covered under CPA. The result - small nursing homes and small clinics in metro cities were sued for imaginary negligence.The fear of CPA created a fear psychosis in the mind of doctors.…
