The World Health Organization (WHO) TB statistics for India for 2015 give an estimated incidence figure of 2.2 million cases of TB in India. The estimated TB prevalence figure for 2015 was 2.5 million. The current article describes the use of new antibacterial combination ceftazidime-avibactam(CAV)to combat drug-resistant TB. Tuberculosis is India's biggest health problem, but the recently discovered phenomenon of TDR-TB - Totally Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis is even more fatal.This issue of drug-resistant TB initially started with MDR-TB and proceeded to XDR-TB.
