A consumer court in Madhya Pradesh has upheld compensation of Rs 3.10 lakh for a 77-year-old patient who underwent coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery at a private hospital in Mumbai and was readmitted to the intensive care unit within 12 hours of discharge. The State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (SCDRC) dismissed appeals from both the patient and the hospital, affirming the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission's finding of deficiency in service. The case dates back to July 2019, when the patient from Damoh underwent CABG surgery after angiography revealed triple-vessel coronary artery disease.
