Highlights Since the onset of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), diabetes mellitus (DM) has been extensively reported to be associated with a higher risk of severe infection. Interestingly, COVID-19 has reportedly induced new-onset diabetes, unmasked previously undiagnosed diabetes, and led to diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).

It is still unclear whether COVID-19 induced DM should be categorized as Type 1 or Type 2.1 This infographic explores possible disease mechanisms, as well as incidences of such cases and their management.
