According to a study published in the journal Pediatrics, researchers have developed a new technique to calculate patients' specific risk for appendicitis. Moreover, researchers claimed that this new risk calculator decreases the use of computed tomography (CT) and minimizes the overall healthcare expenditures. Abdominal pain is one of the most common reasons children are presented to the hospital, and appendicitis is the most recurrent surgical emergency in pediatrics.
