Time of engraftment is a crucial indicator of reporting the risk of infection or any complications following a hematopoietic stem cell  transplantation for patients with malignant and non-malignant disorders. Researchers at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia have now developed an open-framework custom-built web-based application that collects data and engraftment dates from multiple sources as per guidelines given by the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR). This tool was integrated into routine care since April 2021.

It was found that the neutrophil engraftment error rate was 3.8% while the platelet engraftment error rate was 1.9%.
