An Istanbul prosecutor has charged 47 individuals, including doctors and nurses, for profiting from the improper treatment of newborns , which resulted in the deaths of ten infants. This case is regarded as one of the biggest health scandals in Turkey in recent years. The prosecutor claimed that the suspects formed a criminal group to send newborns to specific private hospitals and receive payments from a social security body for providing unnecessary and fake treatments to the newborns.

Following these allegations, the Health Ministry launched an investigation, shutting down nine hospitals. They also identified 19 health institutions potentially involved in the scheme. Despite these allegations, two doctors and 11 nurses denied any wrongdoing, insisting they never intentionally sent the newborns to the implicated hospitals and that the infants received necessary treatments.โ€ฆ
