Synopsis In recent times, there is an increased prevalence of multidrug-resistant, gram-negative uropathogens. This necessitates consideration of new therapeutic interventions for complicated urinary tract infections (UTIs). Plazomicin is a next-generation aminoglycoside with bactericidal activity against multidrug-resistant Enterobacteriaceae. This drug is active even against Enterobacteriaceae that are resistant to carbapenems which have traditionally been used for the treatment of multidrug-resistant complicated UTIs.
