India’s medical colleges may soon see fewer disputes about patient numbers and more reliance on digital proof. The National Medical Commission has directed all medical colleges to integrate digital patient records and ensure that patients visiting attached hospitals generate and link their Ayushman Bharat Health Account IDs. The step aims to make the annual renewal and inspection process more transparent and data driven. In a recent communication to deans and principals, the Commission’s IT division said that linking ABHA IDs for patients attending OPD, IPD, and emergency services is now an important requirement under the minimum standard guidelines.
