The National Medical Commission (NMC) has initiated a new registration process for all MBBS doctors eligible to practice in India on its portal. Doctors registered on the Indian Medical Register must register again on the National Medical Register (NMR) to obtain a unique ID. The NMR serves as a database and central repository of all registered doctors . The registration requires a digital copy of the MBBS degree certificate, the State Medical Council (SMC) or Medical Council of India registration certificate, and an Aadhaar ID.

After adding the relevant details and submitting the application on NMC’s portal, the application will be forwarded automatically to the relevant SMC for verification.
