The Odisha government has stepped up COVID-19 surveillance across the state after neighboring Andhra Pradesh reported fresh coronavirus cases, with enhanced monitoring focused on border districts and preparations for the upcoming Rath Yatra. According to State Public Health Director, the state health department has directed Chief District Medical Officers (CDMOs) to intensify surveillance, particularly in districts sharing a border with Andhra Pradesh, to strengthen preparedness and ensure early detection of any potential cases. Mishra said COVID-19 testing is being conducted at district-level health facilities across Odisha as part of the state's surveillance strategy.
