Delhi Health minister has ordered that non-functional operation theatres (OTs) in government hospitals should be fixed at the earliest by incorporating necessary requirements. The order has been declared after an analysis, that reported 31 out of 183 OTs in state run hospitals were found non-functional. These OTs are not in functioning state due to lack of equipment or pending civil work. Another major crisis is the shortage of staff i.e.
anaesthetists, assistants and technicians. The health minister stated that, “Some of the problems have been fixed already. I have asked the medical directors of all hospital to submit a list of requirements to make the rest of the OTs functional too,”.
