Almost every dentist have come across common odontogenic infections. The article provides a brief outline about these infections and their management. Odontogenic infections are the infections which are primarily of dental caries. These infections can originate within the teeth or the surrounding tissues. These are the most common presentations to the dentist which require assistance.

The infections can localized or sometimes systemic implications. About 70% of the odontogenic infections occur as periapical inflammations.
