Pain has been very important in human survival as well as the longevity of our race. It has taught us many simple things like not to get close to the fire, not to get cut while using a knife or even not to overwork our bodies. Pain helps us realize we need to focus our attention on some problem that our body is experiencing. For instance, it hurts us when we get burnt, or are cut with a knife. This tells us to tend our wounds and helps us heal.
