I have just read an article which I would like to share with all of you. It was published in the February issue of Journal of the American Medical Association. The article shows statistical data which proves that surgeons who receive more complaints about their behaviour from patients, also have the high complication rates. The surgeons with the highest number of complaints against them, have the highest rate of complications.
The data collected by the authors covered 32,125 adult patients, who received inpatient or outpatient procedures from one of 817 surgeons, at 7 academic medical centres in the US between January 2011 and December 2013.
