The National Medical Commission (NMC) of India has recently published a set of guidelines for registered medical practitioners on various aspects of professional conduct. We are summarizing these guidelines as a series of articles. This article focuses on NMCβs guidelines banning doctors from attending pharma-sponsored conferences.
The Guidelines Registered medical practitioners (RMPs) and their families must not accept any gifts, cash or monetary grants, travel allowances/facilities, hospitality, consultancy fees or honorariums, or entertainment/recreation access from pharmaceutical companies, medical device companies, commercial healthcare establishments, corporate hospitals, or their representatives under any pretext.
