An estimated 40% of the patients have Parkinson’s disease psychosis, (PDP) a debilitating condition that is characterized by hallucinations and delusions, is associated with significant caregiver burden, and is a major reason for nursing home placement among Parkinson’s patients. Pimavanserin offers a viable treatment option for patients suffering from PDP. This article provides a basic information about pimavanserin used for treating hallucinations associated with Parkinson’s disease psychosis.
