The Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM CARES) fund trust, recently announced the allocation of 3100 crores to support the fight against COVID 19. Out of these 3100 crores, 2000 crores will be allocated for the purchase of ventilators, 1000 crores for the welfare of migrant laborers, and the other 100 crores for the development of novel coronavirus vaccine. Stating COVID-19 to be a “distressing situation,” the Prime Minister allocated 2000 crores from the PM CARES fund for purchasing 50,000 ventilators under the “Made-in-India” initiative.

The ventilators will be provided to government-run hospitals for the better management of COVID-19 patients in all states and union territories.
