Kerala police have registered an FIR against four doctors for allegedly failing to detect genetic disorders in a newborn during prenatal scans . The accused included two doctors from a government hospital and two from private diagnostic laboratories. According to the FIR, a 35-year-old woman sought treatment for her third pregnancy at the government hospital. As part of her routine prenatal checkups, scans were performed four times during her pregnancy.
She was admitted to the hospital for delivery on October 30 but was referred to a government medical college hospital after the absence of fetal movement and heartbeat was detected.
