During this pandemic, delivery and perinatal care of neonates born to mothers with suspected/positive COVID-19 pose a big challenge to the pediatricians across the world. In this regard, the American Association of Pediatrics (AAP) has drafted guidelines on the immediate management of newborns and other precautions to be followed while handling, breastfeeding, testing, and post-discharge of infants from the hospital. However, there is no significant data available that proves the possibility of transplacental transmission of the virus through any maternal body fluids during pregnancy.
