A preterm male infant presented with multiple prematurity-related comorbidities along with persistent anemia without reticulocytosis and required transfusion support. Bone marrow aspirate and biopsy were recommended by the hematologist. The patient’s peripheral blood smear showed anisopoikilocytosis and mild monocytosis. A bone marrow biopsy showed normocellular bone marrow with tri-lineage hematopoiesis. He tested negative for parvovirus.
