The doctors working in tertiary care hospital has to bear additional stress in providing preferential treatment to patients bearing letters of recommendations of MP's and MAL's. As per news item, about 2-4 thousand letters of recommendations on letterheads of MPS and MLA 's are sent daily for preferential treatment in AIMS, New Delhi. Association of residents doctors asked them to stop sending recommendations for admission and preferential treatment rather they should improve health care services in their local areas. It's surprising.
As, the majority of cases of recommendations result in violence against doctors, secondly what about the psyche of patients who do not have any recommendations. What is your opinion about curtailing of this practice? Kindly share.
