Evidence suggests impaired spermatozoa immunogenicity can complicate pregnancy and cause recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA). Since spermatozoa are exposed to microbiota both in the male and female reproductive tracts, there are high chances of harmful microbiota altering the antigenicity of the spermatozoa. Given the proven benefits of probiotics in treating several female reproductive disorders such as vaginosis, candidiasis, and preeclampsia, it may be of interest to determine the efficacy of probiotics in preventing recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA).
